Our Contribution to Sustainability
According to statistics (Link), Germany generates 1.2 million tons of old clothes annually, much of which is still of high quality and wearable. To prevent these from ending up in local landfills, it is crucial to ensure resource-oriented and sustainable recycling of textiles.
This has been the mission of BERA Textilrecycling GmbH since 2007.
Textile Recycling
The fast-paced nature of fashion leads to significant clothing waste, exacerbating resource scarcity and environmental issues. Instead of disposing of old clothes in household waste, they should be reintroduced into the material cycle in an environmentally friendly way.
Proper sorting allows most clothes to be reused, and the rest to be processed into cleaning cloths or industrial fibers. This conserves raw materials, saves energy, and reduces disposal costs, benefiting taxpayers. Additionally, it helps meet global clothing demand and creates numerous jobs domestically and abroad.
Our Services
We collect old clothes and used shoes in the Berlin area, providing numerous collection containers that are reliably emptied weekly or as needed. Larger quantities can be picked up from your home upon request, free of charge.
After collection, the clothes are stored dry and protected in our modern warehouse, ready for transport to our long-term partners. These sorting companies ensure a meaningful reuse and ecological recycling of textiles through careful inspection.
Clothing Collection
In addition to clothes, shoes, bed linens, blankets, towels, and stuffed animals can also be donated.
The items should be clean, dry, and preferably packed in plastic bags to protect them.
Shoes should ideally be bundled in pairs.
Rags, heavily soiled, and damaged clothing should be disposed of in regular waste.
Old Clothes Containers
We are constantly looking for new locations for our collection containers. If you can offer a place on public or private land, please contact us.
All our containers are insured, so liability on your part is excluded. Cleanliness and order are ensured through a written rental agreement.
We guarantee weekly emptying of containers to prevent litter accumulation.Our containers are equipped with our company phone number for easy contact.
They meet the latest standards, featuring the “Easy-Push” noise-reducing, secure entry system, protecting clothes from moisture and dirt. They are designed and manufactured according to the EG Directive Machinery 98/37/EG, considering the following standards:
